When it comes to building lifted trucks, it takes a whole mess of professionals to get it right, and if you’re in the Northern Colorado area, the one place that comes to mind is Five-R Trucks. Because of this, we had to go check out the shop when we were lucky enough to be invited down for the shop’s third annual open house as part of Truckfest weekend. Needless to say, we got our money’s worth delving into the professional establishment that is Five-R and brought back all the custom happenings to share with you!
Five-R Trucks is nestled among various small businesses right along the main East and West drag that runs through the heart of the Denver Metro Area and into Golden, Colorado. With easy access to the towering 14’ers to the west, famed Bandimere Speedway to the South and the town of Golden to the North and East, this unassuming locale has become somewhat of a Mecca for truck fans looking for the ultimate Rocky Mountain build. And though you may speed by without even noticing the tucked away establishment if you didn’t know where to look, there’s nothing small about what comes out of this impressive shop when it comes to high-class lifted machines.

You’ve undoubtedly heard of Five-R Truck in the lifted world, and if you haven’t, well, you should be listening a bit more carefully. After all, this custom truck shop has been around for a number of years, continuously producing some of the finest builds to hit the halls of the annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas as well as countless magazine covers. Five-R is at the top of their game and not afraid to show it through quality builds again and again.
Just last year, Five-R was responsible for building eight SEMA Show trucks, including the famed 2015 Chevy Silverado dubbed “Recluse” owned by KEG Media’s own Robbie Bryant. This year, the stakes are just as high, with six SEMA trucks coming from the bays of the Colorado shop, including the highly-anticipated KEG Media “Rapture” F-150 build.
With so many top-of-the-line builds coming out of the Five-R custom shop bays, it should be of no surprise that the company maintains solid relationships with some of the industry’s leading components dealers and manufacturers, including American Force Wheels, Specialty Forged, BD Diesel Performance, EDGE, and Hostile, all of which set up booths for the annual open house. All are represented in their accessory show room and even more industry leading companies, from light manufacturers to suspension pros. If it can be added to a lifted truck, Five-R has access to it and the professionals to get the job done right.
Owned by the Hill family, there are five generations of passionate lifted truck fans that call the shop home, with a number of family members working at the shop and many more supporting it at shows and events. Between the Hills and the other Five-R family members, there are decades of customization, suspension, drivetrain and wheel/tire expertise embedded in the shop and it certainly shows in everything that they create.
Whether you’re a Hill or have another last name, everyone at Five-R is like family and everyone comes out in force when it comes to promoting the shop and running events, like the 2015 Truckfest held the Sunday following the shop’s open house. While at the open house and at Truckfest, we didn’t find a single member of the Five-R crew that didn’t greet us with a smile, talk passionately about the company and allowed us access to anywhere we wanted to browse on the property. It’s treatment like this that puts Five-R in a class with only a select few.
We had an exceptional time getting to know the Five-R crew, and we’re looking forward to bringing you more exclusive coverage from behind these doors. Be sure to be on the lookout this year at SEMA and right here at Lift’d Trucks to see what Five-R Trucks has in store for the industry in the coming months!
